A Letter From Pastor Bill - oct 2, 2020

Dear Grace of Christ Family,

I have been trying to lean into these words from Jeremiah 29.11: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”  I have also been reminded of Proverbs 16.9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”  Then, this past week I read this:  If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s these two things:

Make plans, but stay flexible.
Hope for good things, but expect anything.

I believe God wants us all to be reminded that He is in control of ALL THINGS.  And, He will use ALL THINGS to bring about His perfect plan according to His will.  As we continue to make plans as individuals, families, and as a church, let us continue to listen to God as He tells us the way to go, even if we have to make adjustments along the way.

So, here are some of the plans that we as a Church are wanting you to be aware of (buckle up, there’s a lot here):
This Sunday, October 4th, we would typically have Communion.  However, as we aim for being indoors on October 11th, it was decided to hold off doing Communion until some of us are actually together in person.

Yes, October 11th is our first official indoor Worship service.  We are going to follow guidelines, which includes limited seating.  For you to participate in person you will need to register on our website.  We will cut off registrations when we hit our limit.  Going forward we will make it possible to everyone who is comfortable being in person to have a chance to attend a service.  Each service will still be streaming live on YouTube, and will be recorded for viewing on Facebook or our website.

God continues to provide for our needs.  Staff and leaders are monitoring expenses, and your Elders are constantly making adjustments that will help sustain our ministries.  However, we are currently running $8,000 -$10,000 behind in our anticipated contributions at this time of the year.  Please continue to pray for our finances, and seek God’s guidance for your own contribution.

Lots of prayer and discussion continues to take place as we look to merge Gracia de Cristo and Grace of Christ into One Church.  We will provide more details soon.

As we open up for Worship on Sundays, everyone needs to be mindful of the fact that the actual church building is not open throughout the week.  The church building will not be open after 6pm, Monday through Friday.  If you need to come to the church, please call ahead of time to inform those who are on the premises, so they can be prepared to let you in.

Life Groups, Bible Studies, and other gatherings are limited to 5 family units, and need to reserve a time and room.  If your group is larger than 5, it is required that you break the group up.

Pastor Curt is offering a post worship service time of discussion and reflection as an alternative to people who cannot commit to a Community Life Group.  You can participate in person, at the church, or via zoom.  Contact Curt to let him know you would like to be included one way or another:

On this coming Wednesday, October 7th, at noon, we will host a Prayer Gathering.  Go onto our website to register.  We need to know how many will attend, so we can prepare the right amount of rooms.  Also, if you’d like to lead one of the groups, please let me know:

Finally, Grace of Christ Pre-school classes begin October 5th.  Please be in prayer for the teachers, assistants, staff, children and parents.  This is an exciting opportunity for families who are or are not part of Grace of Christ.

Because of Christ, and in His Grace,
Pastor Bill
