PRAYER MATTERS
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the one who sees me.” Genesis 16.13
This summer I shared with you a post from Dave Adamson with Australian You Version – from his Instagram page. I’d like to share another of his writings this week.
What God sees when He looks at you.
What God sees is completely different from what you see in the mirror. And understanding this gap could transform how you see yourself.
Hagar, an enslaved Egyptian woman running from abuse, discovered this when God met her in the wilderness. She gave Him a name never used before: El Ro’i “The God who sees me.”
When God sees you, He doesn’t just observe from a distance. God recognizes you, values you, and declares a worth that nothing in your life can take away. When God looks at you, He doesn’t see your failures and mistakes, your productivity metrics, your social media image, your personality test results.
He sees His workmanship (Ephesians 2.10).
Someone wonderfully made (Psalm 139.14).
Someone with imperishable beauty that this world cannot measure (1 Peter 3.4).
That’s what gave Hagar hope: Not that God simply noticed her pain, but that He saw value in her when society saw none. El Ro’i sees. He sees not just your circumstances, but your worth within them. Where you see failure, He sees someone worth redeeming. Where you see brokenness, He sees someone worth restoring. When God looks at you, He sees someone worth dying for.
That perspective never changes.
Take care my friends,
Ericka

Prayers
1 Peter 3.3-4 - Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
